Who we are

The Easier Business is a trading name of Big Think Labs, LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company. We help owners find where their business is stuck and do something about it, through a free questionnaire, workshops and hands-on engagements. This notice covers theeasierbusiness.com and the other Easier domains that forward to it. "We," "us" and "our" mean The Easier Business; "you" means anyone who visits the site or gets in touch.

This notice says what we collect, why, and who else sees it. We keep it in plain English on purpose — if a sentence here would not make sense read aloud, we rewrite it.

What we collect, and why

When you visit the site, we record a small set of facts about the visit: which pages you looked at, the site or search engine that sent you, and, if you started the questionnaire, that you finished it and which area it flagged. We use this to see which pages are useful and where people get stuck, not to build a profile of any one visitor.

If you fill in the contact form, or ask us to email you your questionnaire result, we collect your name, your email address, and whatever you tell us about what you need help with. We use that to reply to you and, if you say yes, to send occasional notes about making a business easier.

If you sign up for a workshop, we collect your name, your email address and the name of your business. We use them to send you the workshop link and reminders, and to ask how it went.

What we don't collect

We don't see your answers to the questionnaire. It runs in your browser; your choices are used right there to show you a result, and they're gone when you close the tab unless you ask us to email the result to you.

We don't use third-party advertising trackers or ad pixels on the site today, and nothing here is sold to data brokers or ad networks. If that ever changes — say, because we start running ads — we'll ask for a clear yes or no first, the way described in "Cookies and local storage" below, before anything like that loads.

How the questionnaire works

The twelve-question tool at /find-the-block runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you pick is sent to our servers while you're answering. When you reach your result, we do record that a result was reached and which area it pointed to, as a page view with a short label attached, so we can tell whether the tool is helping people. We don't record which answers got you there.

If you choose to have your result emailed to you, that's a separate, deliberate step: you type in your email address, and only then does anything about your result leave your browser.

Email and consent

We only add an address to our marketing list after you confirm it yourself: you give us your email, we send a confirmation link, and nothing goes on the list until you click it. That's double opt-in, and it means a mistyped address or a form filled in by someone else never ends up subscribed.

Marketing email, when we send it, comes from mail.theeasierbusiness.com. Every message carries a working unsubscribe link and our postal address, and we honor an unsubscribe request right away. A reply to a one-off note from us (about your contact form message, for instance) isn't marketing and doesn't need a separate opt-in.

Sharing: who processes this on our behalf

We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing. A short list of companies process it on our behalf, under our instructions, so the site and the business can run:

• Vercel hosts the site and its servers.
• Big Think HQ (operated by Big Think Labs), our shared marketing system, receives the page-visit metadata described above and the contact details you give us, and is where they're kept (this site doesn't keep a copy), so we can see the whole picture across our properties and send you email if you've agreed to it. If Big Think HQ isn't available when you sign up for a workshop, your sign-up is emailed to us through our email provider instead; the site still keeps no copy.
• Our email provider delivers the messages we send.

Each of these only receives what it needs to do its job for us, and none of them is allowed to use your information for its own purposes.

Cookies and local storage

The site doesn't use cookies today. It uses your browser's local storage for three small things. One remembers whether you picked light or dark mode (the key eb-theme); that stays on your device and never reaches us. The other two belong to our first-party visit counting: a random visitor number that isn't tied to your name or email (bthq_vid), and a note that your first visit's source was already recorded (bthq_ft). If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, neither of those two is created.

We don't run any third-party trackers or advertising pixels. If we ever add one — for ad measurement, say — we'll add a short, honest choice about it before that pixel loads, not bury it in this notice after the fact.

Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we honor it as an opt-out of any sale or sharing of your information, and our analytics code doesn't create a visitor identifier for you at all. We treat a Do Not Track signal the same way: as an opt-out request, honored on our side.

Retention

We keep contact-form submissions and email addresses for as long as you stay in touch with us or subscribed to our list, and for a reasonable period after in case you get back in touch. Page-visit metadata is kept in a form that isn't tied back to you personally once it's no longer useful for seeing how the site is doing. You can ask us to delete your information sooner — see "Your choices and rights" below.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from marketing email any time, using the link in any message. You can ask us, by email, to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and we'll handle that within a reasonable time.

We do not sell or share your personal information, as those words are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA). If you're a California resident, you have the rights CCPA/CPRA gives you — to know, delete, correct and limit the use of sensitive information — and you can exercise any of them by emailing us; we won't treat you differently for asking.

Children

The site is meant for business owners and leaders, not children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and if we learn that we have, we'll delete it.

Security

We rely on our hosting and infrastructure providers' security practices (encryption in transit, access controls) and keep the amount of personal information we hold small on purpose — a shorter list of places something could go wrong is itself a security measure. No system is perfect, and we'll tell you if something happens that affects you.

Changes to this notice

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. We won't make a material change quietly.
